I am so excited for Non-Fiction November! I feel that I’ve been neglecting my non-fiction backlist with all the shiny new releases coming out, and now I have the perfect reason to finally settle down and read them!
Non-Fiction November is a month-long event that you can find out more about here.
There are weekly prompts and discussion topics, or you can just join in and focus on your non-fiction backlist. I’m hoping to properly join in this year, and what better way to do that than to highlight exactly which books I’m hoping to get to!
Forever Barbie: The Unauthorised Biography of a Real Doll by M.G. Lord
Beautiful: The Life of Hedy Lamarr by Stephen Michael Shearer
Furiously Happy by Jenny Lawson
The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a F*ck by Sarah Knight
Educated by Tara Westover
Rabid: A Cultural History of the World’s Most Diabolical Virus by Bill Wasik and Monica Murphy
The Life and Afterlife of Harry Houdini by Joe Posnanski
I think this is a good mix of topics – there’s some biography, some history, self-help, humour and medicine. There’s another to keep me going for a month, although I do have a couple of back-up options too.
The one I’m most excited about is probably the Houdini biography – I’ve read a couple of other books about him, including The Secret Life of Harry Houdini and Houdini and Conan Doyle. Click for my reviews.
Forever Barbie has been on my TBR for the longest time – probably about ten years, with no exaggeration. It would be wonderful if I could finally get it read in November 2020!
What’s your favourite non-fiction book?
