Another month, another TBR. I’m really excited about this one, as I had a huge Waterstones order arrive right at the end of April. I managed to hold off until I’d read and reviewed The Girl and the Stars, which I’d received for review, but it wasn’t easy. But now I get to dive in and select which of my eleven (!) new books I want to read first…
These are six of the eleven from the Waterstones order; the ones I’m most desperate to read. In all honestly, they’re the lighter ones as I’ve been stuck with a few heavier books that I haven’t enjoyed all that much, and I just want something enjoyable. My other options are things like Leviathan Wakes by James S.A. Corey and Sophie’s Choice, and I just… not right now, okay?
Slightly less new books
I haven’t had Alice all that long. It was given to me by a friend who is adamant that I’ll like it, despite not really being a fan of fairytale retellings. I just don’t see the point in reading the same story over and over again, you know? Anyway, I have been most faithfully promised that This One is Different, and I’m willing to trust her.
I’ve been petrified of reading The Toll ever since it came out. I adored both Scythe and Thunderhead (links lead to my reviews), but what if this one doesn’t live up to my expectations and ruins the whole series for me!? Excuse me while I hyperventilate into a bag…
I do need to finally get to it though, and I’ve decided May is the month!
The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova
Theoretically only one reread, but I’ve been on a bit of a rereading kick lately, so I might end up reading more. I’ve been meaning to reread The Historian for literally years, but now seems like the best time. I’ve just finishing rereading Dracula, and this book is about the Dracula/vampire origins, so… there we go.
What will you be reading in May? Have you read any of these books?
